Operating as a Functional Subsystem under IBM’s Job Entry
Subsystem (JES), JESConnect resident software securely integrates
legacy mainframe print applications with FlexServer and P/I Output
Manager software. JESConnect emulates a JES printer to the mainframe
system, transparently transmitting output data and Job Control Language
(JCL) job processing parameters like output class, form name and
destination to the job via standard TCP/IP interfaces.
No need for costly IBM PSF/390 software
With JESConnect, there’s no need to pay high IBM PSF software
maintenance or licensing costs. When you transfer processing to
a client-server platform using JESConnect, you’ll streamline
processing of AFP data streams to IPDS devices—and use a fraction
of the CPU cycles and DASD.
High speed data transmission to boost performance
Speed counts when you’re producing high volumes of documents
in tight windows. JESConnect uses a standard TCP/IP socket protocol
to transmit data, it’s transferred at the top speeds that
high-volume production environments demand.
Enhanced data integrity is assured
With other systems, once data is sent there’s no way of knowing
if it reached its destination. JESConnect is a closed-loop system
that verifies that all data has been successfully received by FlexServer
or P/I Output Manager before deleting the dataset from the mainframe,
providing the assurance you need.
High productivity for high volumes of data
JESConnect 5.3 software comes with an automatic checkpoint restart
capability that uses regular checkpoints to transmit data sets to
FlexServer or P/I Output Manager. If a transmission error should
occur, JESConnect restarts from the last checkpoint rather than
starting the entire transmission over.
Real-time resource management for faster processing
JESConnect is available with an optional RESConnect module for real-time
resource management and downloading to the P/I Output Manager System.
